IBM ordered to pay $105 million to insurer over tech project's collapse

IBM must pay five times more in compensation to a customer whose £175 million ($230 million) Agile software platform contract was ripped up in 2017 following a series of failures on the project, the Court of Appeal in England has ruled.
Big software project is hard and full of risks. That's just part of the industry. Be clear eyed about what you are getting into when you start such endevours.
Our preference is always start small, bring it to production and evolve the system daily over a long period of time. However this approach is not always desirable. The competitive pressure on each organization is different. Sometime they need shorter timeline and take bigger risks.
